3/27/10 - Update #2

Well, the new cd of mine is moving along very nicely…..At this point, I hv 6 definite  tracks…..entitled

Shallow, Below the Lights, Heart Inside Heart, Terrestrial Chatter, King of the X, Heaven Above…….

The cd should hv a total of 10 tracks…..with a few surprises !!!!

The latest tunes “Below the Lights” and “King of the X”….were recorded with the Soldano for rhythm tracks and double tracked with the Randall Nuno Bettencourt 100 watt head.  The tone is simply massive.  Cleans are being recorded with Fender Blues Deluxe and Soldano Clean channel.  I double tracked with my Edwards Les Paul and my original Wolfgang guitar.  Signal chain is  (Amp) - Mesa 2×12 Recto Cab with Celestion Vintage 30’s…..miked with SM57 and Sennheiser 421…..running into API A2D Preamp.  This preamp is the same 312 API that was used on my cd…..with 2 channels.  Both mikes are running into preamp and into Logic 9.  Delay, depending on tracks…is a TC Nova Delay or Logic Stereo Delay.

“Below the Lights” is one of my favs.  To me it has a very cool heavy groove and yet there are parts that get kinda prog-like.  It also has a very Ozzy Diary type feel.  Ive been really into experimenting with alternate tunings on some tracks….and 4 of the tunes hv a very heavy drum track.  I hv some ideas in mind as to who will be tracking drums later this year.  Bass tracking thus far has been done by the one and only Ethan Meixsell….and the early tracks sound fat.

Official Soldano Amplification User

Much thanks to Mike Soldano and Tom for awesome email about my cd and a shout out on Soldano Amplification website. An honor to be listed as a Soldano user. Best amps in the world!!! I used my Soldano Hot Rod 50+ exclusively on the new cd. No amp in the world can touch it.  All leads and solos on “A Flickering Light” were recorded with the HR 50+
